@niyolynate I think the languages we can translate to have been listed on the Oppia tasks. Though, our mentors will be able to answer correctly. |

When you mean translate, do you mean whether you can help translate lessons to Luganda, to be used on the Oppia website? If so, you can tag @Kebith and @AddisalemB to help you reach out to the language team. Your request should probably detail why your language should be added with stats if you can, so they can check if it's sustainable. I would've told you to send an email to the team, but it seems emails aren't allowed in this cohort, and you'll get faster help through tagging the mentors anyway. But if you're asking if you can teach the lessons to children in Luganda instead of English? Then I don't see why not. It'll help the kids. Go right ahead. PS: Please use the QA repository next time, so mentors can give it priority. |

@niyolynate <https://github.com/niyolynate> I think she should wait till
she's given the go-ahead tick by the mentors before she can proceed, to be
on a safe side, so that her contribution can be duly recognized.

Hello Oppia Team, My name is Niyo Lynate from Uganda an Outreachy applicant. as i was going through the welcome document, i came across the languages options, and since we are also taking a case study in Uganda, am i allowed to translate some of the study in Luganda , as being the most spoken Language in Uganda, while taking my case study and tutorials for the projects especially involving Children in primary Section.
To avoid Language Barrier in the field.
Luganda is widely spoken now by east Africa and some part of Sudan Rwanda and Kenya
Also please accept my application to contribute to Oppia projects. been delayed by technical issues.
Any guidance is highly appreciated. am not connected to the weekly zoom meetings any help will be a great honor thanks allot
