[Feature] Add an override to handle asset in the routing layer #707

We should an optional override (default would stay the same as it is right now) that would retrieve public assets directly in the routing layer.

We may want to allow this only on external middleware (Not sure about this one)
It would allow the middleware to protect static assets as well
It means retrieving public assets involves some computing
