I have tested the CoverageJSON examples against the CoverageJSON Playground, which has a built-in schema checker.

Example 1 domain must have a referencing property (lines 3-15).

Example 2 the start and stop times must be numbers, not strings, as time is a CRS not a calendar (lines 8, 9)

Example 3 is OK!

Example 4 is OK too.
