Hi there! Indeed there's no save/load functionality. I considered adding it but ultimately didn't do it, for my needs a screenshot is sufficient for saving nice drawings. Do you think the app need it?

Is good if you want to fix a drawing later or not getting UI in the screenshot.

Do you think the app need it?
Maybe not so much, as it is, you can do that with another pixel art editor.

Ok i'll look into implementing it :) I guess the best thing would be to save it as a regular PNG ? Possibly upscaled ?

I wonder if i should let users open any random photo on the phone. It would need to be downscaled and palettized, which would probably turn out horrible.

PNG sounds good, I prefer to maintain low resolution and not upscaled (to be used as pixel art asset as it is).
Anything else can be done in another app. Like:

  • Edit further with zoom/layers and/or stylus in a specialized image editor (pixel art or not).
  • There are many options to upscale (image editors, IA upscalers, SVG converters).

I did found RetroDrawing, because I played Doors of Doom on my smartphone. I did kill: Dungeon Boss, Ancient (many), found Dungeon Map and went to the exit (Level: 174, Score: 7940). Had fun with it!
