Lacks the ability to take a photo of the check, instead of entering the number, or in addition to it.

This is an interesting feature. However, it has to be coordinated with the desktop version of Money Manager Ex.
Currently we support synchronization of the database via Dropbox. If photos of checks were to be stored on the phone, there should be an option to transfer them to desktop, as well.

Is it possible to request the Dropbox app to refresh the whole directory?

This might work if the the attachments from the desktop version are kept in "attachments" folder of mmex app on Dropbox.
That way we can immediately upload any attachment made with the mobile version. Also the download would work as we know the file name.

This would only work when online? Would Dropbox sync if the files are added while offline?

Please add this feature! It will allow users to manage any receipt, check or any paper document on a transaction.

Also please ensure the attached file can be encrypted if encryption is enabled in the mmex database.

It is possible to add attachments to databases on Desktop versions of MMEX, but not on mobile versions. It would be nice to attach any file and to take a picture and have it be attached for ease of use on mobile devices.

This would be a great feature.

Just store it as in the Desktop Version. Sync can also be done by external tools like Syncthing,...

While this would be a really nice feature, I think it would be tricky to implement. Syncing folders between the Desktop version and the Mobile version could be tricky - trying to keep lots of files in sync across multiple devices can come with lots of issues.

Perhaps storing all the attachments in a "database" file, like a compressed "zip" archive, is a better solution. That way, you only have to sync this one file instead of having to sync lots of individual file attachments, which in a big database could run into hundreds of files.

This might require changes to the way that the Desktop app stores attachments, so it could be quite a big implementation...

Sorry, I'm not a Java developer, so I won't be able to implement this any time soon.

@yaomtc , can you have a try?
the latest version (v1040) can pre-view attachments, sure that you need to put the attachments along with the database file

@yaomtc how was it going?

I've installed the desktop version from AUR and created the attachments folder and a test attachment... got an error every time I try to enter an amount, but I got a test transaction in there. (Found the bug reports for that.) However when I try to preview it, the app stops/restarts.

EDIT: Ah, I see Flatpak is now the recommended way to install MMEX on Linux. I'll just use that.

Did you get your attachment folder set up via Settings -> Per-Database

Oops! Didn't check the version number when I installed from the IzzyOnDroid, it was 2024.09.11. Installed the latest release from here and Preview works fine 👍
