The FP7 EU-project ClipC has made some recommendations about metadata for three tiers of indicators: Tierr 1 are climate statistics, Tier 2 are environmental impact indicators and Tier 3 are socioeconomic impact indicators: http://www.clipc.eu/media/clipc/org/documents/other/metadata_standards_for_climate_impact_indicators-v1.pdf.
