Sidebar badge notification not cleared after Whatsapp updates

Steps taken

1. Receive a message on Whatsapp, causing the Whatsapp badge to show a notification.
2. Open the Whatsapp tab.
3. Click the new message. At this point, the badge will still show the notification, and the message itself (in the app) will display as unread.
4. Click the "update" notification in Whatsapp. The app will reload.

Observed result

The in-app message is now shown as read, but the badge still shows the notification.

Expected result

The notification is cleared from the badge.

System details

• macOS 10.13.5
• Franz 5.0.0-beta.18.903
• Whatsapp service settings: all options turned on
• Franz settings: all options on

Hi there,

Allthough this is an old ticket, I'm now experiencing the same on MacOS Ventura 13.5.2 (Apple M2 Pro) with Franz 5.9.2.2004.

When I press the "Filter icon":

the badge disappears but no messages are shown:

Anyway to get this resolved?

Just updated to Franz 10.5.0 and issue still exists.

Might be related: the number of pinned chats shows as the number of unread messages when there are no unread messages. If you unpin all pinned chats, the unread count badge is cleared. If you pin a chat, it shows as 1. It's also interesting that the badge disappears when you scroll down (away from pinned chats) or as others mentioned, when you use the filter button.

I have the same issue and it seems like @MrPrisoner is right about the pinned chats

Same here.
I untagged both chats and the number went down to zero / disappeared.
Re-tagging the chats popped the badge number back up.

Now I know where it comes from I can live with it but a configurable option to switch it off is appreciated.
