Program Stuck On "Waiting for device to be connected and unlocked"

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro running macOS Catalina 10.15.7, and when I plug my iPhone SE 1st Generation running iOS 15.7.1 in with a passcode on it but on the home screen, the program doesn't recognize it and gets stuck on the message in the title.
