Passing query string or http header

I have to pass a token to Socket.io server for authorization, I did not find anyway to add header, I tried passing via query string it worked but gave me error 'unknown transport: "undefined" ' on server side log and disconnected client side.

Just to let you know our socketio server is not latest (1.0.4)
