Lowercase "i" looks like uppercase "i" in bold on linux #82

That looks like an issue with the font rendering settings (antialias) on your Linux system. |
it could also be a hinting issue. I think the current binaries use TTF autohint, which is not ideal. I manually hinted an upcoming release, but it's not quite ready yet. |
agree it's worth looking at your antialias/display settings though. I'll leave the issue open while you check |
I'll double check the settings. But I can't do it until Monday so I'll get back in a few days! :) |
I've played around with both the anti-aliasing and hinting settings and if I turn off anti-aliasing the problem disappears. But everything looks like shit... But it also disappears when I turn off hinting, but here stuff still looks pretty decent! ;) So I assume that you were correct when you said that the hinting might be off! I forgot to take any screenshots on this. But I can do that if it helps! Note that my hinting settings were previously set to "slightly" (or "minimal" hinting. Haven't worked much with font design so I don't know the lingo. But on a scale between 0 to 3, where 0 is off and 3 is max, the setting was 1) |
Im going to rehint. There are definitely issues I am seeing on linux |
Hi!
I have a problem on one of the sites that I use (Last.fm), where the lowercase "i" looks like an uppercase "i" or a lowercase "L" if the font is bold and too small. You can read more about this problem on this thread:
https://support.last.fm/t/incorrectly-capitalized-i-in-the-middle-of-some-artist-names-playlists-on-the-website/59228/6
Note that this only happens on my Linux computer.
If you need more info just tell me!
Best regards
