Supposedly, the plots are no longer stored in Graphics[GraphicsComplex[...]] format.

Chiming in as well in 2021. This would have been a really helpful package. @masteranza any luck in getting it to work in current Mathematica versions?

Thanks for your interest in this! I haven't actually used this anymore in the last few years, the last Mathematica version I used this with was 11.3. Unfortunately, I do not have access to any version of Mathematica anymore, so I'm afraid I cannot reproduce this on my own. It would be interesting what exactly doesn't work anymore. If it's indeed because the return value from ContourPlot[] has changed, you could look at its new structure using List@@plot where plot is the return value.
