Support for function calling has been added to MLX here:
ml-explore/mlx-examples#1003

any idea how we can fetch a tool call in chatLMX?

Tool Call is planned, but it requires modifications to Swift Jinja and Swift Transformers for support, which is a significant amount of work. Due to time constraints, Tool Call may be implemented later.
Contributions via PR are certainly welcome.
