how to Connect GCS with pixhawk

i build gcs 5895 ground control software code in visual studio i run the project but when i connect pixhawk using com port with it and press the connect button it gives this message " can not determined mode" or somethimes nothing happen when i press the connect button please guide me how to connect it

and i downloaded xamp server and install it but when i run the application it says can not connect to database only this is enough or we should create database for it ?
