redirect_to does not work with file extensions

will not 404. This is an issue because I cannot include the proper file extension.

I'm sure there would be an initiative to do that, if it didn't appear as if entirely good PRs have been left ignored, without feedback and without any kind of response or, merge, criticism, etc, in this repo, and it is honestly inconsiderate to FOSS contributors to encourage submitting a PR when it feels as if the rest of Jekyll is getting plenty of attention, yet backporting fixes from Jekyll Core into a plugin used by the entirety of Github Pages is too difficult for maintainers.

Why not get more maintainers on board? Or allow for people to apply for scoped perms? What about #229 and #233?
