I would find it really useful to have scripts.irssi.org only have small meta-data-blocks per script, describing how they should be sources from external sources like git repos and such. A bit like how https://github.com/melpa/melpa does it for emacs packages.

I also like the general idea. maybe s.i.o could automatically create pull requests when a source repo is updated.
however I'm not sure if we would want to source remote files directly, as that would subvert the claim that scripts in this repo are checked for obvious malware
