introduce semantic markup like JSON-LD, RDFa (but just decide for one)
evaluate, if meta-tags for Open Graph, Twitter Card have an additional benefit

JSON-LD seems to also support breadcrumbs, see f.e. https://www.aditus.io/patterns/breadcrumbs/#seo
