You can apply for the research grant here. The funds could be used for a few things:
Increase Purple Air Sensor Network: Buy a few more purple airs to increase our coverage
PRC Network: Purchase a few more purple airs to include out at PRC
Calibration Tools: Purchase more, better sensors to calibrate the PAs against
Experimental Tools: Do you have an experiment in mind? We could buy materials to have that experiment come to fruition (see below)
Taking the BOMP Network Further
Some potential ideas for using the BOMP sensor network (as determined by Hagen) are:
Testing the sensitivity of PAs against short-lived events i.e. smoking, vaping, vacuuming, cooking, etc.
Dispersion detection (for lack of a better phrase) where we test whether or not the PAs can detect events like smoking or exhaust from vehicles at increasing distances from the sensor (test why we aren't seeing events like traffic that we should)
Mobile tracking/comparison where we strap some sensors to us and walk around campus comparing the readings from the wearable sensors to the PAs
UT Student exposure modeling where we do something similar to above and see for UT students, what their daily exposure to PM might be like

thanks ;) the mobile measurement idea has been thrown around quite a bit, to get at something that's a "personal exposure". I think Nick/WELL Living Lab have been working on that, and also the nano people have been for a while. The idea of a wearable that captures your daily exposure as you go by your live might be cool. We could focus it on PM for now, like a wearable BEVO, providing the missing link between the home BEVO and the outdoor stationary sensors. combined with the gps from a fitbit, you could also use it as a crowdsensing device for PM (localized in time & space).
This has elements of product design as well, might want to talk to Sep. His senior design project in ME was supposed to be a BEVOband but it never went anywhere. Now that we know what we know, we may take it to the next level.
