Make tqdm output work in a more friendly way

Today we have progress bars which provide insight into what's going on when certain actions happen such as data processing or model merging. We should either hide this info unless logging is set to debug, or provide a smarter way of displaying this stuff. Maybe checking if the terminal will break, though this method seems much more fragile than simply hiding it behind a debug wall.
