Geolocation too general let's make it more precise!

I noticed that the location of pictures (after importing from iCloud) are more general. For example instead of showing the location of a museum in Manhattan the picture just shows Manhattan. It would be great to have specific places included which can be used to create specific memories as described here -> #11484

Server environment settings are set to :

DISABLE_REVERSE_GEOCODING FALSE
REVERSE_GEOCODING_PRECISION 3

Could it be because of these settings?

There is work currently being done on more accurate geocoding, though I don’t believe it would identify landmarks as yet.

shnorhakalutyun! @mmomjian Do you know if the lat/long of the pictures are kept the same when imported from e.g iCloud? in which case if geocoding will get improvements it will reflect?

Was it already done? I'm trying to import pictures from the Dolomites in Italy, and there is no location available

It's unlikely we will ever add poi's as the amount of data for that worldwide is pretty insane, though it could be possible. I'm currently paused on reverse geocoding improvements and working on our map tile service but I'll be back to that soon hopefully 🙂
