Checklist

  • I have used the search function to see if someone else has already submitted the same bug report.
  • I will describe the problem with as much detail as possible.

App version

3.6.7

Windows version

Windows 10 Pro - Newest version

Steps to reproduce

Activate filters -> Hotspot allows connection but can not share internet
Disable filters -> Hotspot allows connection and shared internet. Works instantly, no restart required.

I saw the closed post and followed each and any of the proposed solutions but nothing works.

The outcome of these tips is this sizable list of allowed services and stuff:

Enabling and disabling the windows-firewall independently does also not help. The same is true for any settings in terms of private/public/domane network.

I am at a loss. It also seems that the issue is not resolved for most people, and I am not sure why it was closed.

Expected behavior

Find a set of services/apps that are whitelisted to allow the use of the hotspot.

Actual behavior

Hotspot can not provide internet, even with following any tips and settings I could find.

I did and even meantioned it. The other bug is closed but not solved. That normally allows opening of a new bug.

yes. really.

...

I tried different versions of windows firewall enabling and disabling - automatic with the "enable/disable filter" button in the simplewall UI and manual.

At some point it seemed that disabling the firewall && activation of the filter would work, this at least allowed me to connect the phone and the ESP32 in my office, but they never got an IP address resolved (like the person directly under the comment you pinned) - it also turned out that ONE TIME after some experimentation the magical solution seemed to be: disable the filters && disable firewall, than manual enable the firewall for the private network and then activate the filters again.

I was very happy that it worked but after a shutdown it never worked again.

Still disabling simplewall filters (the state of the Windows firewall is not relevant) instantly re-enables the hotspot functionality. I also experimented with the comodo-firewall instead of the windows one - I run into the same issue.
