Transmission not connecting to peers - no downloading.

I'm asking for help to troubleshoot my new install. I'm new to OMV and dockers in general, so I'm still grasping concepts.

I've installed the docker image mapped my /data and /config folders, started the daemon and confirmed VPN is working. I can access the web UI but bittorrent just...isn't working. Not connecting to peers, not downloading. Links are magnetizing but then nothing.

I had to add DISABLE_PORT_UPDATER=true because I was getting a port bind error...

I was able to fix this issue. I did a couple things.

1. omv was running in Vmware Workstation Pro 16 and the docker mounts were a shared drive on the hypervisor host. There's a known issue with shared folders not working properly, so I followed this guide:

Known Issues
Shared Folders mount is unavailable on Linux VM.

If the Shared Folders feature is enabled on a Linux VM while it is powered off, the shared folders mount is not available on restart.

Note: This issue is applicable to open-vm-tools running on VMware Workstation and VMware Fusion.

Workaround:

If the VM is powered on, disable and enable the Shared Folders feature from the interface. For resolving the issue permanently, edit /etc/fstab and add an entry to mount the Shared Folders automatically on boot. For example, add the line:

vmhgfs-fuse /mnt/hgfs fuse defaults,allow_other 0 0

2. I removed DISABLE_PORT_UPDATER=true from the composer file, to eliminate this as a possible issue.
3. As a result of above, I had to set OPENVPN_CONFIG=ca_vancouver since Port forwarding is not supported on PIA's US servers.
4. I added DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to the composer file (I was already doing this, but listing here since it seems like good advice-from searching many problems can be fixed with this configuration).
