Failed to Create Event Tap

I'm receiving the following error "Failed to Create Event Tap" despite following README.md instructions.

I cloned the repository from master, ran ./build.sh and placed Keyboard\ Cleaner.app to /Applications. I also gave the application the required permission from the Accessibility settings. I've tried the following ways to open the application:

• Simply opening it from the Launcher,
• running open Keyboard\ Cleaner.app from terminal,
• running Keyboard\ Cleaner.app/Contents/MacOS/keyboard-cleaner.

Unfortunately, the error seems to persist (see the attached picture).

I'm on Monterey 12.4.
