latest update causing slow or failing picture loading/upload

Steps to reproduce

Since I updated Element for MacOS Desktop this morning (M1 MBP) I have noticed that pictures are slow to to load, staying on their blurred preview for much much longer than usual. As well, sending images via copy paste/ drag and drop into the app seems to fail 2/3 times now, despite working yesterday (I send a lot of screenshots/ copied pics from the web for work using the app so I am fairly familiar with it's typical performance).

I have gone through all the motions of rebooting, trying on a different internet connection, etc. but since I updated image copy/pastes have failed repeatedly this morning, regardless of the clipboard content's size/res. As well drag and drop, (ex. from the preview of a screenshot you just took w/ the MacOS built in tool) fails. the progress bar appears for both these actions but sticks at 0% or 100% before erroring out or freezing for longer than my patience provides.

No other electron apps have any issues, and I am on the latest MacOS, in case that eliminates some possibilities. I am waiting to hear back from some acquaintances about how their desktop clients are running after this update on other platforms.

This occurs in all the chats and groups I have tried it in since I updated. I can gladly take further steps and provide further information, and am apt enough to follow technical instructions in anyway if needed. If there is an easy way to downgrade to the prev. version to ensure it is this update that would be cool to confirm too. Let me know how I can help, thanks!

Outcome

What did you expect?

The usual fast, seamless Element desktop experience where images do not freeze after loading their early blurred previews, and copy/paste & drag n drop works for uploading/sending media.

What happened instead?

Images failed to load previews or upload/send to conversation. Uploading/sending only seems to work via manually selecting the file with the system dialog. The app gets stuck on the circular loading bar when dragging in an image, yet a few times pressing escape would cancel the loading bar and immediatly pop up with the image preview as you would expect/as it used to do instantly.

My first thought is that this is likely to be matrix.org being slow for a bit - is this possible? Is it better now?

Hey, sorry I missed this last week, figured I would update this after today's element update.

I agree, it could just be matrix!

The only thing that made me raise this issue, which I do continue to notice even after updating today, is that the loading preview (ie. blurred image) hangs for longer than I ever had experienced, even compared to periods of known matrix.org attachment/media issues I have encountered in the past. I will chalk it up to me being picky / maybe a bad month for the servers, and try and capture better evidence for future issues. Thanks!
