S3

  • read and store data as objects

  • deploy in multiple regions for max availability
  • duplicate dbs in multiple regions

CloudWatch

analyze your aws data through logs/metrics

Auto Scaling Group

  • a group of EC2 instances with identical features
  • has auto-scaling policies that are applied to each instance in teh group
  • ex. group has min size of 1 instance, with a preferred capacity of 2 instances, and a maximum size of 4 instances

Predictive Scaling

  • do some hard reads and anticipate traffic using ML
  • allocate ec2 instances ahead of time

Redshift

  • data collection/storage service
    • data warehouse
  • create big datasets

DynamoDB

  • aws mongodb
  • distributed nosql kvp db service

Time to live

  • expire data after a timestamp

  • cloud functions
    • no server necessary to host a service
