I noticed in the source there appears to be some details regarding using tcp modbus but there is only a definition for using a RTU in the conf

I don't have any way to test MODBUS over TCP unfortunately, but libmodbus certainly is capable of it.

Unless somebody else wants to tackle it and make a PR, it won't happen until I get my hands on a unit that has that feature.
