Maintenance?

Is anyone still maintaining this lib? Is there a better fork available? We've got a lot of open PRs/issues that I'd like to see worked towards. Would be happy to take over if there's no one else doing it.

@bomattin I got word from the package owner that they won't be touching this crate anytime soon.

Alternatively, if you're interested, I could always use the help on a crate I'm making called finite-fields. The structure is slightly different from bit-vec, but I'm using it in my own projects already.

I have a crate which uses BitVec in its core API, so I'm really disappointed to hear that this crate is apparently abandoned.

I'd be open to inviting new members to the contain-rs organization, allowing others to take control of this (and other) repos.

I don't actually understand a lot of how this library works, or how to minimize overhead. Not sure how much help I would be.

All PRs are now fixed, reviewed and merged except for the last PR about which im not sure.

I'll handle merging myself, I can do that easily, but also the popularity of this crate is very high.
