When requesting time off you should not be able to request time off for an already scheduled time period. Thus the first requestable date should be the first day of the next unscheduled period.
This makes some things pretty complicated.
What if they request a day off but the algorithm picks up that time period to be scheduled tomorrow. Is there enough time? What happens then? What if the time off request gets approved after that period is scheduled and they now have approved time off in that period.
