It would be nice if the output had some indentation, e.g. 4 space per nesting, so it could be read more easily

Thank you for the issue! Yes, that would be good. I think one can take an approach similar to the one in serde_json where there is a trait that can be implemented to provide an arbitrary formatting elsewhere.
