Hello,

After updating from v7.2.0+beta.2 , I noticed the system rendering speed in codec info. is reduced by approximately 1/2, so the FPS went from 120.00 to ~57 on my 120Hz display. Reverting back to beta.2 brings the system rendering speed back to a consistent 120.00 FPS. This happens with 4k as well as 1080 video content.

Please provide any relevant information about your setup

  • Add-on Version: v7.2.0+beta.3
  • Kodi Version: 21.1
  • Kodi GUI Language: English
  • Operating System: Windows 11 23H2
  • Operating System Language: English

Please note, this is just a simple test performed by playing random content then seeing the FPS reduction in the codec info. overlay. Hopefully, the cause will be an easy one to find and eliminate.

Thanks very much this add on is incredible.

Can you provide a debug log showing the difference in v7.2.0+beta.2 and beta.3?

Without a debug log I'm not going to be able to look into this.

Note that the framerate is for the GUI, not for the video, and what it is telling you is that Kodi is using all resources available to it in order to render the GUI at 120 FPS while the video is playing, even if this achieves absolutely nothing.

In v7.2.0+beta.3 more work is being done while the video is playing, so less resources are available to render nothing, but this has no tangible effect on anything,
