Currently with tag it (which is excellent btw), when the source provides both values and labels, the labels are shown in the search results list, and the value is what is stored as a tag.
What I'd really love to be able to do instead is to have the tag use the label for both, but instead place the value inside the tag's hidden form field, so that the value is then sent to the server behind the scenes. For example, if my pre-existing tags have numeric IDs, I could pass these as the values in search results, and have the selected ID(s) passed back.
This would make it easier to quickly distinguish between items that were entered from the search results (with a value), and so should already exist, and those that were entered manually and may need to be added.
