How to use ts-node with the v18 built-in testrunner?

Based on the built-in testrunner I want to run my tests inside a test directory. When dealing with .js files I'm using node --test ./test/**/*Tests.js. When dealing with .ts files I could use tsc && node --test ./build/**/*Tests.js.

But is it possible to use ts-node for that? :)

I'm not an expert, my pseudo command might look like node --test ts-node ./test/**/*Tests.ts

ts-node can be installed via --require ts-node/register or --loader ts-node/esm. Try those. Our docs also mention that you can use the NODE_OPTIONS env var to pass options to node.

@vegerot what node version are you using? This error seems similar to #1997

In addition, don't forget to set up your npm default shell to make the glob expansion work in simple command like npm run test

# get shell
npm config get script-shell

# set shell (zsh)
npm config set script-shell /bin/zsh
