Tunnel Peer Flags

Is there documentation that explains the peer flags in the debug tunnels menu? I know... debug menu is not meant for normal use.

I see references like these...

RELAY, EXIT_ANY, EXIT_IPV8, SPEEDTEST, EXIT_HTTP
RELAY, SPEEDTEST

I think, generally, these be fairly descriptive as to what they are, would be good to confirm.

The flags are use to announced which roles a peer is willing to fulfill within the network:

• RELAY: relay traffic
• EXIT_ANY: exit BitTorrent traffic
• EXIT_IPV8: exit IPv8 traffic
• EXIT_HTTP: exit HTTP requests (used for HTTP trackers)
• SPEEDTEST: help speed test a circuit

@egbertbouman very few IP exit nodes ever show in the list, most IP's are populated with speedtest flags (RELAY, SPEEDTEST). Most of the time there are only one or two IP's with flags, "RELAY, EXIT_ANY, EXIT_IPV8, SPEEDTEST, EXIT_HTTP". Is this normal?

How many exit nodes are there for Tribler to use?

Yes, that's normal. Peers with RELAY, SPEEDTEST are just regular Tribler users.

I don't know how many exit nodes there are, but I've never experienced having too few exit nodes. Tribler doesn't need that many exit nodes, and sometimes even prefers regular users.

Excluding different ports numbers from the same IP, how many different peer IP's is a normal (and good) quantity displaying flags, "RELAY, EXIT_ANY, EXIT_IPV8, SPEEDTEST, EXIT_HTTP"... one, five, ten, twenty?

If you're a relay in a circuit, it's possible that the circuit creator is sending messages to speed test a circuit. That's very unlikely though, since it's not even available from within our GUI. It's just something we use to test a circuit without involving a BitTorrent swarm.

The target is around 50% of peers (with peers meaning unique IP, port combinations).

What do you mean here, regular users as exit nodes?

No, regular users will never be used as exit node. I mean that Tribler sometimes prefers keeping connections open to regular peers instead of exit nodes. This avoids needless strain on the exit nodes.

Under Debug -> Tunnels -> Peers how many unique IP's in your Tribler session do you generally have with "RELAY, EXIT_ANY, EXIT_IPV8, SPEEDTEST, EXIT_HTTP"?

I would have thought there would be lots of unique exit node IP's with, "RELAY, EXIT_ANY, EXIT_IPV8, SPEEDTEST, EXIT_HTTP", to have good speeds over Tribler?
