Windows Defender marks "aetherment_core.dll" as potentially unwanted software #6
Comments
I also received this today as well. I imagine it's a false positive but wanted to bring attention to it. |
I highly recommend uninstalling at this time; it may not be a false positive. I ran into some system slowdown and irregularities after running FFXIV and getting this message tonight. I was only able to resolve them by uninstalling this mod and doing a system clean of my temp folders. |
Its not a virus, its not malware - its a false positive because Sevii added UI Text Support and for some reason because of it all the AV's are flagging the DLL as malicious, which obviously is not the case (the whole code is open source, you can check it yourself and build it yourself) Chances are the feature will be removed again until its fixed. |
Good to know. Maybe it was just Windows Defender having a hard time removing it while playing, or something, that was causing my personal slow-down issues. All I know though is that once I disabled and uninstalled it, my system returned to normal. shrug I'll probably just hold off until that's removed/resolved, personally. ♥ |
I mean, no one needs to have Aetherment running all the time you can safely disable it unless you are 24/7 changing your UI or using the UI Text Color support which is on runtime so it needs aetherment running all the time. You can just leave it disabled until you wanna change something or theres an ui update which is not often anyway. |

I just opened up the game after long work shift, got a Defender notification immediately as XIV loaded, and upon checking, it's coming from the core dll file.
Please advise.
