Due to many changes inside Seagate we cannot currently access our ESXi build VM and building for ESXi has always been a manual process....I've looked into many different ways to attempt to automate it in the past and have not found one that will work.
I also have to check on our license status to build with some of their SDKs we have to use.
This issue will be left open so if there is anyone else using ESXi, they are welcome to comment and show interest so we can figure out how many people are using ESXi and want to use these tools. We have not had an ESXi request, even internally in quite a while.
I would like to revisit this when we can, but our team does not currently have the resources to work on this.
One other thing we will need to know is will ESXi users require a VIB package for the tools or not. I know our team had some trouble getting this created and signed, but I cannot recall if there was a way to run the tools standalone without a VIB package.
Since my last comment I found out a lot of the tools worked by passing raw disks into an ESXi Debian VM. So USB booting isn’t necessary :) ! Hopefully this helps out some others who come across this issue.
It would be awesome to get openSeaChest binaries for ESXi every release so I don't have to reboot my system to use SeaTools bootable.
Thank you!
