Process some feedback I've gotten elsewhere.

I think you should upload something more just to get it seeded and running. That way people can get a much better feel for how the site works. Also, I don't see that much got uploaded during the reddit thread, even though people tried. Things like that can be fatal. Don't lose them the first time! Make sure it is working if traffic is going to the site. It's gotta work, that is rule #1.

Find permission from some people to upload objects, if they won't themselves, just to get content on there. You can take any/all the STLs that we have made, such as in here:
http://download.lulzbot.com/TAZ/4.0/production_parts/printed_parts/TAZ_printers/

Also, the renders should be higher quality and NOT RED. Red is "things are broken" trigger, like evil red text. Make them a nicer, softer color and do high quality renders for the thumbnails even.

(he later recommended " The blue background and gray object in FreeCAD looks decent. I think the yellow of openscad is a bit garish." after I vetoed blue)

Just some random thoughts, take 'em or leave 'em. :)

The upload issue is a problem with pyrax. I'm working on it. I should be able to address it in our custom django-cumulus branch instead of branching pyrax.

I like the high quality renders idea. I also still don't like the current color scheme, the green behind the thumbnail is kind of ugly :(

I also think as soon as you can you should start picking out "featured items" and placing those at the top of the page. Pick ones with nice thumbnails for now so you can get the ugly colors out of the way. A good appearance is good.

I feel like whoever gave you this feedback might be a bit more focused on amount of content than quality. The biggest thing is getting some unique content. See if you can get some content that isn't already hosted on thingiverse or other sites.
