Per the meeting today DT would like to have help text on the Most Cited and Most Viewed tables (pages). Here's what it looks like now...it's not clear where the best place to put the help icon here. It applies to all columns.
Basically, what we discussed it should say in general is something like:
"citation counts are calculated based on the current stage of reference matching on PEP-Web. The counts may change as we adjust incorrect reference data in the database and based on the sensitivity of our heuristic matching and whether or not a reference is an exact match, including the source, to what's in PEP-Web."
Thinking about what to say, I'm not sure we need to say anything on the view count page. Basically, there changes would only occur if we find aberrant view data (or, if we were to change policy as to what counts as a view).
apologies, but in the first instance, i've no idea how to even get to that page--with the left infocard set up in that way.
once i am there, i can share my personal view.
one observation is that the webpage is already drowning in words, so we ought to think of somewhere we can make that information available--POP-UP/link to support page, something like that. not more words there!

Yes, I agree that it's pretty much a hidden feature. I do note it's not in the help pages; I don't know if it's covered in a video. And the text for the ? should mention it. And really, it could be made an icon at the top of those infocards, with it's own tool tip.
Anyway, at the bottom of most viewed, and most cited infocards, there's a link that says: "View All". Click that for the two statistical summary pages.
Note in old pep web you could sort by your choice - now there is a filter dialogue but I am not sure what it does - it dies allow you to out in name and see that author's citations..
Perhaps all these prefs need Help pages - including explanation purpose.
Regarding the text. I think (1) we need a Help page for advanced users which has definitions/explanations of our search ir counting methodologies. (2) We need a button or something wherever we present results labelled either Definitions of For Advanced Users or something and all od this nees to be clear ijn Help..
