Currently there does not appear to be a way to deselect an annotation, once one has been selected. Thus the lower annotation display is always on, once an annotation has been clicked.
Even closing the annotation panel (by clicking the speech bubble icon) and reopening, the lower display re-appears with the previous annotation visible but not highlighted in the right hand pane.
Suggest that if clicking an annotation does not move the OSD view, then it should deselect it like a toggle.
