incompatible character encodings: ASCII-8BIT and UTF-8
/Users/jday/.rvm/gems/[email protected]/gems/apn_on_rails-0.5.1/lib/apn_on_rails/app/models/apn/notification.rb:83:in `message_for_sending'

the alert field in the notification that triggered this error contained this string:
