Would it be possible to provide the examples that generated the files font-sampler-Haydn.pdf and haydn-basic-example.png ?

There are some good examples in LilyJAZZ -- take a look at https://github.com/OpenLilyPondFonts/lilyjazz/blob/master/stylesheet/lilyjazz.ily and its use in https://github.com/OpenLilyPondFonts/lilyjazz/blob/master/examples/AllOfMe.ly and you can see how to setup the alternate font. You'll need to do something very similar to switch to Haydn.

If you do end up making an example, feel free to send a pull request with the updates. I don't have the original .ly file that generated the example PDFs, unfortunately.
