There are many functions with varying calling patterns that provide very complicated interfaces to be able to wrap in Python. It's possible, but I can't set these up since I don't use these calls.
I commented about some nests from @infophysics because I don't actually know what these functions do. We need to find a person to own these, where maybe @mszydagis knows somebody. I've done the hard part of getting the infrastructure setup.
