Relationship to typst

Hi, I'm rather new to Typst and found out about this project from the Typst Preview extension for VSCode. I realized that the smartquotes were wrong for the document language (Spanish) and noticed that the issue has been fixed for Typst in typst/typst#941, that is several months ago. Now, I don't quite understand the relationship of Typst.ts to Typst. Do they share code than run on WebAssembly or is Typst.ts a complete reimplementation? In that case, how do you track fixes like the one I mentioned? Thank you very much, Carlos.

EDIT: I think that issue is actually fixed in typst.ts also, I forgot to set the region property. Anyway, the question was just triggered by that concern but stands on its own.
