https://old.wow.tools/ it's help full to explore all the official wow files and view them

Thanks for the reply.
The problem is i don't have a windows machine at the moment, so i was hoping i could customize a character using the wowhead model viewer and use that for export.

I personally use Linux and Mac and I can feel your pain. Unfortunately, for exporting the m2/wmo into obj I don't have a quick solution cross-platform, but it's definitely possible in some way.

There is a web m2 loader here https://github.com/Mugen87/three-m2loader, from the loader I think that there should be a way for converting it into .obj model.

I made a quick search and I've also found this https://github.com/coolzoom/m2mod
Another option is using wow model viewer with wine and export the M2 file into obj, it should be possible
