A particle can get passed back and forth between two cells indefinitely, preventing MODPATH from finishing. Reported by WZ in an email to Alden (3/23/2018). Wes eventually found that "it had to do with a dry cell in NWT" and worked around it by "setting the dry cell as a stop zone with its own flag so the particle would terminate when it hit it."

Hey @aprovost-usgs I wonder how the latest version of Modpath-7 (the provisional version) handles the dry cells in MF6 Newton Raphson solution, is the particle instantly routed to the highest active wet cell below it or the particle stops there? I am trying to interpret some of the results I have!
…dows-related incompatibility reported on at least one machine. The provisional code is provided temporarily for evaluation purposes as a courtesy to users who are unable to compile the source code. Only a 64-bit Windows executable is provided. Please see the disclaimer in the accompanying README_provisional.txt file.
