The code is using a simple heuristic: https://github.com/LunarG/VulkanTools/blob/5912b9757723635a1c1ad89066a0e4041713ba4d/vktrace/vktrace_replay/vkreplay_main.cpp#L596-L606

But it's not bulletproof for users that start X11 without a modern login manager. It then segfaults in strcmp
