Open by default problems #437
Comments
Hi @mfaathirarsa, are you looking for ways to share a post from the post page? You can do so by swiping right on the post title/body like this, let me know if this solves your issue: RPReplay_Final1722208681.MP4 |
That resolved one of the issues, but I’m still facing a significant problem. When my friends send me Hacker News links, they don’t open in the Hacki app by default. I have set these links to open in Hacki by default, but now I can’t open them in a browser. Clicking the "Open in Browser" button within Hacki just returns me to the Hacki app. This creates quite a tricky conundrum. |
@mfaathirarsa, I see, can you go to Hacki's setting page and enable "Use Custom Tabs" option and see if that solves your issue? |
I'm sorry but that did not solve the issue as noted in the video below 223a157a-2def-48b0-a6e3-f6b639b69c68.mp4Also is there a way to remove those blue bars when opening in browser, it seems that it follows my accent color but it's really distracting |
Can confirm that Hacki doesn't seem to support opening Hacker News links on iOS either. |
Hi @TriStaRvOiD, you can open HN links in Hacki by tapping on the Hacki icon in the share sheet: |
It would be helpful if Hacki supported deep linking though. For example, the way in which Safari suggests opening a Reddit post in the app. Apologies if this form of implementation isn't possible. |
Unfortunately this is not possible since deep link on iOS (now even on Android) requires some sort of certificate to be setup in the web server: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/supporting-associated-domains |
It has come to my attention that Hacki does not open Hacker News links by default. Consequently, I configured my device to automatically open
news.ycombinator.com
links using Hacki. However, this setup has created a problem: I am now unable to open discussion pages in a browser, as my Android device automatically redirects these links to Hacki instead of my browser. My original intention for this setting was to ensure that links sent by friends would open in Hacki by default. Unfortunately, since there is no share button available within a post in Hacki, and sharing can only be done from the home page, this setup does not meet my needs. It seems that the intended use case was to allow users to open links in their browser, copy the link from there, and then use it, but this is not possible with the current default settings.
I am using the default settings provided by my phone's operating system. For reference, I will provide my phone's specifications below.
