Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
It's been over a year since the last official release and there have been many commits since with feature enhancements and bug fixes.

Describe the solution you'd like
A version bump with a new release tarball.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Suggest an alternative source for obtaining a tarball that tracks closer to the git source.

Additional context
Some repositories (such KISS Linux Community and Main) prefer to build from the release tarball as opposed to the git source.

Having a release tagged would also help us to get the (few) latest fixes/improvements.

Would you like to volunteer? I can give some hints/ provide some more docs if needed.

Ah, thank you for the pointer. One of the problems of having maintainers and a commercial ecosystem in the FLOSS environment. Unfortunately, I do not have time either. But I keep the request in mind.
