Multiple root elements found

Ok, two property paths for the same variable causes “Multiple root elements found”.

I the example picture below, I dragged first ?a/art17:speciesname to the canvas, then ?b/dwc:scientificName, and no other. I dragged nothing else to the canvas. I still get “Multiple root elements found”, and I get it on both boxes. I’m also unable to connect the boxes. Dragging the purple dot to the other box doesn’t connect.
