Getting area for Z2M device always returns "None"

I need to get an area id for Z2M device to use it in script. I tried the following (ac_relay) is the friendly name of the device):

{{ device_attr(device_id("ac_relay"),"area_id") }}
{{ area_id("ac_relay") }}
{{ state_attr('ac_relay', 'area_id')}}

All strings return "None". However in the settings of the device it's linked to an area.
How to resolve this?
