Recipe terminated with fatal error: spawn latexmk ENOENT. I (probably) need help setting the paths

I have installed TexLive as specified here: https://www.tug.org/texlive/quickinstall.html but I run into the error above when trying to build a project.

I am fairly new to Linux and I think my problem has to do with not having set the path correctly. I get this output when I finish the installation:

Add /usr/local/texlive/2021/texmf-dist/doc/man to MANPATH.
Add /usr/local/texlive/2021/texmf-dist/doc/info to INFOPATH.
Most importantly, add /usr/local/texlive/2021/bin/x86_64-linux to your PATH for current and future sessions.

How can I set this? I have tried a few ways but it doesn't save when I close the terminal.
