The {ProductName} controls support Microsoft® UI Automation, the new accessibility framework for Microsoft Windows®. This framework is available on all operating systems that support Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). This topic explains the automation supported by specific controls and their limitations.
The xamMaskedEditor™ and xamTextEditor™ controls support the Value control pattern, allowing their values to be read and changed.
The xamMaskedEditor supports the ITextProvider control pattern. You can use the ITextProvider control pattern to:
-
obtain information about the text within the control
-
retrieve the selected text
-
change the text that is selected
-
navigate the text

Note
The xamTextEditor control does not have to implement ITextProvider to receive this functionality. The TextBox contained within xamTextEditor while it is in edit mode supports this interface. |
The xamCheckEditor™ control supports the Toggle control pattern, allowing its checked state to be read and changed.
The DataPresenterBase class and all derived controls (e.g., xamDataGrid™, xamDataCarousel™, and xamDataPresenter™) support:
-
Breadcrumbs support the Invoke control pattern, which allows you to invoke a breadcrumb action (navigating to a specific parent record).
-
Cells support the Value control pattern allowing its value to be read and changed.
-
Cells support the SelectionItem control pattern allowing it to be selected or unselected.
-
Cells support the ScrollItem control pattern to bring a cell into view.
-
Cells support the GridItem and TableItem control patterns allowing you to retrieve the row/column position information for the cell.
-
The GroupByArea supports the ExpandCollapse control pattern allowing the area to be expanded/collapsed via automation.
-
The field label supports the Invoke control pattern allowing the sort of the column to be toggled.
-
The record supports the ExpandCollapse control pattern allowing automation to determine and change its expansion state.
-
The record supports the ScrollItem control pattern allowing automation to bring it into view.
-
The record supports the SelectionItem control pattern allowing automation to select/deselected the record.
-
The record list (the list control that manages the records) implements the Selection control patterns. The Selection control patterns obtain a list of the selected items.
-
Record lists associated with DataRecords also support the Grid and Table control patterns. These control patterns obtain row/column information as well as row/column headers.
-
The root record list supports the Scroll control pattern.
The following is a list of accessibility limitations that we are currently aware of:
-
Cells and field labels do not implement the Transform control pattern, making it impossible to resize a column/cell/row via automation.
-
Field labels do not implement the selection patterns, making it impossible to select columns through automation.
